This is a "Community Striving for Unity" as our slogan goes. What that means is that everyone effected by Kidney Disease coming together to share their views and experiences to help us grow as a community. A lot of patients feel alone when they first discover their kidneys are failing and there is no saving them. Other patients, like myself, didn't get those years of normal health but were sick since very young and always felt ostricized and alone. Here is a place built out of the desire to brings us all together so we no longer have to feel lost and alone! Be it if you or someone you care about is on Dialysis, or just discovered they have Renal Failure, or have had a Kidney transplant! You are all welcome here!

If this is green then I am in the Shout Box that you don't need to register to use:

Click to chat with me or leave me a message on my xat.com chat box.

Our Purpose:

The purpose of this site originally was for support of every renal patient who grew up sick such as I did. As I get older I see a larger base that may benefit from a site with all info relevant to dialysis in one site. I know my site is small; but with not a lot of these sites out there I figure that as long as people visit then it must be something helpful. Please check out the AKC Board and the other links in the side menu!

:: site updates ::

1/28/2010 - Doing little security advancements and am in the works of possibly changing the email address due to spam. Forums have now been spam free (as in posts, not visits) for about a year and I am pretty proud of that. Will be reorganizing the forums but for now I am busy in school (online classes) so it will be toward the end of the year. I will also be updating some info on this main site with information and about this year's upcoming Kidney Walk in which I have been invited to be part of the "Promotions Sub-Committee" through the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

6/27/2009 - Added a new page on the Give the Gift of Life Walk in my city.

6/16/2009 - Quit CareWare so took off that link and replaced it with the cartoons page link which hosts cartoons created by Peter Quaife, who is former bassist with The Kinks and was diagnosed with kidney failure in 1998. Most of Peter's cartoons were drawn while at the Belleville Dialysis Clinic.

6/13/2009 - Added a 3rd page to Videos.

6/03/2009 - Updated the XatChat link so that the url isn't musical chat anymore but KDA Chat (Kidney Disease Awareness) since the members of www.kidneyspace.com are using it temporarily until their chat is fixed.

KDAChat.html

I have also updated it so that it no longer stores chat messages so once you log out and go back in you won't see the messages anymore.

If you wanted to leave an offline message please use the Guestbook or Guestmap instead to do so.

6/01/2009 - Updated our entry page to the site.
I know it has been slow going but things are picking up! Also check back in the future as we will be adding a few more things to the main site itself even for people who are not members of the forums such as more to the info section.

3/01/2009 - Our new site is KidneyKorner.com NEW!!.
Please update your bookmarks / favourites to point to this new domain!

2/13/2009 - AKC is no longer. Sorry. Because of the man in Quebec who originally got us our domain name in 2005 screwed up something on transferring the domain over to use and then refused to return our calls we were forced to look for a new domain name. Sorry it has taken so long but we were kind of hoping that man would have enough courtesy to at least fix his error or at least return our numerous calls to him.

But I don't mean to vent. Sure I am still upset over the whole thing but what can we do? It is just like how many of us are diagnosed with kidney disease. You can play the Blame Game or you can just move on and see what your options are.

So our options are to get a new domain name and we have. We are not yet announcing it however as it will take some time to fix many broken links as we have never done this without that man's help before. Please bare with us just a little longer!

Thank you for your continued support.

1/18/2009 - AKC Forums are UP once again.
Thank you to Sandman for being on top of things and fixing anything broken from the down time.

Thank you to our members for your continued support and let me know if any more problems arise by either going to kidneyfun or emailing me.

01/17/2009 - AKC Forums are DOWN AGAIN - this is the hosting server side (www.urldownload.com). Looks like it is the same issue as it has been with MySql.

Sandman and I have spotted another host we are thinking of switching to because we are tired of this happening again and again and again and frankly, we are tired of it, so we can just imagine how tired of this you are as well.

We have made a new post addressing the downtime on the host urldownload's forums hoping for tech support (Alex / AlxCds) to get on top of it: forum.urldownload.com.

1/17/2008 - AKC Forums are UP finally once again. This time it was up but then our domain expired and we were unable to get ahold of the main in Quebec who got it for us. Today he found me not even knowing the circumstances so we got the situation fixed.

Thank you and let me know if any more problems arise.

01/04/2009 - AKC Forums are STILL DOWN - this time it looks like it is permanent as urldownloads.com refuses to support SMF anymore even though they supported it for the last year. They are blaming SMF for their inability to keep their servers updating properly so it looks like our forums are done for. It seems they won't even fix the current database so we can't even at least move to another forum.

If anyone knows of a good host that isn't too expensive (we paid $120 max per year for unlimited bandwidth and 10Gb Disk Space and Unlimited email and ftp accounts as well as unlimited databases with support for MySQL and php let us know.

01/03/2009 - AKC Forums are DOWN AGAIN - this is server side just like last time.
Sandman and I have looked at other hosts but frankly this one offers the most for the cheapest price. Now we see why... We are hoping to be back up by Monday but are frustrated this happens commonly on weekends...

12/18/2008 - AKC Forums are UP finally once again. I wish I could tell you why all the downtime but they refuse to tell us as well it seems. Thanks for being so patient with us.

Also I want to take this time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

12/13/2008 - AKC Forums are DOWN AGAIN - this is being looked into but is server side just like last time.
Sandman and I have posted on the urldownload.com forums to try to get some answers. We are hoping to be back up by Monday.

12/09/2008 - AKC Forums are UP! - There was a huge power failure during upgrade on the server side but now all is functional. Thanks for being so patient with us.

12/06/2008 - AKC Forums are DOWN - this is being looked into but is server side.
Also we have made a new page to address any issues such as this on a new Announcements page.

10/30/2008 - Updated the CareWear Bracelet Page
as well as the Show Your Wrist Bands For Awareness! page.

10/14/2008 - I know it has been awhile but I have been sick. Had emergency surgery and was in 2 different hospitals before they figured out what was wrong so sorry for the delay in the update.

Updated the forums to a new format so there is more functionality and less downtime to Smart Machines: AKC SMF Forums! Proboards was good for the time being but this new one is more secure with less problems.
Also added on awareness pages such as the Show your Awareness Wrist Bands page, as well as a link to the KidneyFun Mall which Shay (of Kidneyfun.com / Kidneyfun.net) and I have been working on. Please check them out to help raise awareness today!

04/22/2008 - Forums are upgraded now to version 4.5 (Proboards) and we are also working on a special surprise for our Forum Members!!
Also updated the E-Cards from the Bravenet ecards to the AKC hosted ones!

03/25/2008 - Updated my Skype so that it shows my status for anyone who has Skype messenger. Also added Map back on.

03/23/2008 - Added more videos to the Videos page including MJ's Video thanking all organ donors!!

02/22/2008 - Updated the nav bar on the forums and added 2 new themes over the last 4 days. Also added a Flash title to my site.

Also did some general maintenance as well as added a banner for the KidneyFun shirts which sells shirts for AKC as well as KidneyFun and Kidney-Friends!

02/10/2008 - Updated Canvassing link as this is my 2nd year canvassing online for the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
Here is the link.

Also added a banner that links to my Shout Box where I used to only have a link in this page's menu. No registration necessary and now the banner turns green when I am in it!

02/03/2008 - Added pictures to my Story.

02/02/2008 - Sorry it has been awhile since the last update but I had a Kidney Transplant Sept 30th 2007 that had Acute Tubular Necrosis and didn't work for the first 7 weeks. My hemoglobin has been terribly low and recovery long so bare with me.

I have done updates but haven't typed them here yet. I updated my Story but this time did a whole summary for those who are new to my site. I also redid the PayPal links for the Kidney Bracelets ("CareWear") on the Awareness Bracelets page.

I also updated my "FlipBook"

I am hoping to add more soon but am busy on getting ready for a TV interview by a UWO Student and busy writing an article for www.bluemarigold.ca.

Also I am planning to attend this year's Canadian Transplant Games on August 4th to 10th 2008 that are in Windsor, Ontario
