Tried Loggin into the New Domain Name (http://KidneyKorner.com) but Now Can't Log In?Huh? dontknow

Well this especially is for those who registered in December 2008 or even in November 2008.

There were a few things that happened and for this we apologize:

December there were major database issues with mySQL (programming on the hosts side that I don't know anything about) and were not resolved til mid January. Infact we would have lost ALL OUR MEMBERS AND POSTS if I had not taken it upon myself to make a backup of my database November 10th.

The problem? Well since it was Nov 10th .. we DID LOSE MEMBERS of anyone who joined our forums after Nov 10th 2008 AS WELL AS posts! For this I am deeply sorry but am glad most members and posts were saved.

Sorry but we can't get back what we don't have. This is the job of the host but I have learned to not rely on any company you pay. To only rely on yourself. So now I back up as often as I can (which reminds me .. I will do that again right now as we also moved to a new server as well just on the 14th).

So if you can't login, use this form: http://kidneykorner.com/AK/formsmart.html

or just email me (Special "Captcha Image to get my Email Address" link since I don't want to get spammed by spam bots by putting my email publically here) and I can let you know if your account exists or if you do infact have to register again.

But I can't see the Captcha Image! dontknow

There is a speaker icon on that image that allows you to play the letters and numbers to type in. Now, please realize that just like the image has background "noise", so does the sound file. This is to throw off spam bots (yes they are actually that smart!). So when you listen please listen for letters and numbers and type them in. Don't be confused by the background noise. Thank you.

Don't you have an easier Captcha one that I can see?

Please see if this alternate Captcha Email is easier to read: Email Link

Don't you have some kind of form I can email you from that would make it easier?

You can also email me here:

MaiNull Form

Email forms are easier but sadly that also means easier for spam bots.

Because of the high amount of spam I have been getting I have been looking into a better email form. For now this option is not available but I am trying to come up with a better design eventually as I know some members might not be able to see Captcha images due to their eye sight. Yes, I have not forgotten about you. Please know we are working on an email form that will not just keep myself safe but your emails safe as well! But know that the reCaptcha I have used in these methods mentioned in this thread also have a speaker option for when eye sight is not reliable.

There is a list of all methods you can contact me at this link: http://kidneykorner.com/AK/SecureForm.html

Also Sandman has added new security (a couple months ago) which if either the registered name, IP or email is suspicious waits for us to authorize you. This is no big deal. Just contact me if you still can't get on in 3 days to tell us you are a real person. Then we will know and can manually authorize you Wink

Also in the registration is asks you if you want your email hidden. This is smart to do but since a lot of people didn't see that we have made it so that no one's email is public. If you want to let someone else know of your contact, ONLY DO THIS IN PRIVATE MESSAGE. Thank you. This will stop email harvesting bots.

If you would like to know more about staying safe on the net just check out these links (just to get ideas from):

Why can't I just MAKE UP my email address when I register?

Well the problem is that is that you:

  • Won't get your registration activation email to verify you are a real person
  • Won't be able to get any notices of replies to your posts or if the site moves

Also we have had it set so that when you register it says you will be getting an email which you must click a link in it to authorize yourself.  People have told me they have not gotten this email. Some have, some have not.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM BOX / FILTER / Block list.

If you have not gotten it after requesting the authorization code again, let me know by filling out this form:

http://kidneykorner.com/AK/formsmart.html

** As of Jan 23 2010 I am now manually reviewing all memberships applied for as of this day and manually activating them after comparing to a blacklist.  However, if our email is being blocked, you will NOT get any notifications of new posts or announcements.

SO PLEASE check your filters!

Also if you Forgot your pass,

Okay I will email you about this. I see your account. Thank you.

Also please scan your computer as your IP has been sending out spam in email to people so I had to check if you were inadvertently blocked but it looks like you aren't.  I will send you an email on that as well.

This is probably not the best place to put this introduction, but I couldn't find an email address to submit this to the Web Master for his/her filtering/approval.

My web site http://www.dialysis101.com provides a FREE, no-login, no-registration tool (Nutrient-Solver) to help all patients that need to tightly manage their Phosphorus and/or Potassium intake.

Nutrient-Solver enables users (patients and dietitians alike) to enter ---into a Tablet, food after food--- entire Recipes and Menus of the foods patients actually eat to examine their Phosphorous, Potassium, Protein, Calcium, Minerals, and Water content, as well as Antioxidant, other Vitamin, other Mineral and Micronutrient content. It generates per serving Food Labels, as well as the Tablet.

We began developing Nutrient-Solver when my husband was abruptly diagnosed with total kidney failure and the tools we found only enabled us to look at nutrient content one food/one ingredient at a time. Trying to use those tools was just fine for quizzing each other (like playing Jeopardy) to see how much we could remember about his favorite foods, fruits, snacks. But for carefully planning health-conscious menus and recipes, those tools were just awful for us. They forced us to hastily scribble down data for one food and then hastily look up the next food/ingredient to scribble that data down too, and so on. In the end, we'd either lose the paper or couldn't read our notes; and even if we could, we'd still have to add it all up and compare it with the dietitian's recommendations. With tools like that, it was way too easy to just give-up on home-cooking, home-snacking and healthy meal-planning to serve my husband nothing but pre-packaged foods, which have clear Food Labels printed on them (Food Labels like the ones Nutrient-Solver generates), but are often too high in phosphorus, potassium, sodium, sugar, etc.

We wanted the ability to enter all the ingredients/foods at one time, so that we could casually study the nutrient contents of each ingredient --at the same time-- to see which, if any, ingredient needed to be adjusted or replaced with a substitute with more suitable nutrient levels.

Nutrient-Solver's tabular arrangement also makes it easy to compare foods against one another to make better choices on foods you personally consider 'comparables'. Choose the Fruit, the Nut, the Snack, the Vegetable that best-satisfies the taste buds as well as the specific dietary needs, based on the latest blood tests and dietitian advice.

It is our hope, our goal that Nutrient-Solver will make this aspect of the Renally-Challenged life a lot easier.  Please use this tool in good health and recommend it to every one that needs such a tool.

Plus, I haven't received a confirmation email from my attempts to Register
